Catching the big fish

Catching the big fish

When I was a teenager I wanted to be a fishing journalist, and at a pretty young age I was writing & making pictures for various fishing magazines. For some strange reason it was more fun getting paid reporting about my big passion, than doing my schoolwork - though I would have done it for free anytime.

I had my favorite places to come to again & again, where I knew where to go & what to do. But I always looked for new waters to explore, not knowing if there was fish or how big they where.

I have spend countless hours, days & nights in boats, glued to a chair in silence etc -often not catching anything.

Doing my landscape photography is very similiar to going fishing, and for me it’s about doing great images - not how many or how fast. You always get a little better & a little closer to the “big images” even if nothing make it to the portfolio that day.

The image above is a small fish that turned out to be a big one. I was doing beauty photography on location in Sweden & at the end of the day we did a few images of the rocks before heading home. This one has been sitting in my archives for years when I finally saw the potential. See the larger images on kennethrimm.com

This image will also be available on Kenneth Rimm Gallery opening soon.

Live your life

This bit may be a bit heavy but please stay with me-I do have a point.

Last night I was out on a beautiful walk on the beach-and got inspired to share a few thoughts with you.The misty sky reflected in the calm water so it looked like mercury-just amazing.

Saturday I went to a great childhood friend’s birthday, his family & other people I have’t seen for ages.Just a fantastic day.Straight after I spend the evening alone by my grandmothers bed - she was slowly passing away & we all have been taking turns to make sure she was not alone when she left us. This afternoon she got peace. She has not been happy since my grandfather died, so it has been pretty much downhill for years. That day for me is kind of life in a nutshell - good times & sad times. Ups & downs baby. But the point is that it’s important to live your life & focus on the people & the things you love.Photography is a long lasting passion for me & I hope to make great images till I drop.

Can’t wait to show you the new images currently in the works so stay tuned - I promise I’ll be back in a more cheerful mode next time.
